ADTEC Professional CL Multi Bay Filter With PSS

The key design concept of the PSS is to remove/trap suspended particles/solids from the water which would typically flow straight through many vortex bays and thus pollute any biological media. This is especially the case in that small diameter vortex units are not the ultimate in efficiency. In brief then the PSS can be classified as a highly refined vortex unit, which of course means that any existing filter (or bays) require far less maintenance - also meaning a greater biological bed is established. Who could ever argue that this is not a great asset worth having ?

Incorporation of the PSS advanced technology into the CL Professional range has meant a far greater increase in filter efficiency to the degree that maximum pond capacity ratings can be increased by 100% beyond the standard CL range. This means the ADTEC - CL2 is suitable for Koi ponds up to 5,000 gallons (22,500 litres) or Goldfish ponds up to 10,000 gallons (45,000 litres). The ADTEC - CL3 is suitable for Koi ponds up to 7,500 gallons (33,750 litres) or Goldfish ponds up to 15,000 gallons (67,500 litres) with the ADTEC - CL4 being suitable for Koi ponds up to 10,000 gallons (45,000 litres) or Goldfish ponds up to 20,000 gallons (90,000 litres).

Few manufacturers in the world have put as much effort into designing a flexible and good value range of multi-bay filters suitable for the Koi pond as Cloverleaf.

Key features of this well constructed compact "CL" range are the options of the filters being pump or gravity feed (meaning below ground), whilst meanwhile being very simple to maintain.

The incorporation of vortex bays, and skilful use of mechanical and biological bays using quality mediums encompassing good water flows are further attributes that make the range a superb and sound investment.

For very large ponds all filters can be easily installed as pairs - linked to separate pumps or bottom drains. All systems are supplied complete with valves and waste kits, together with a heavy duty lid capable of withstanding the weight of most pondkeepers.

 CL1 System Filter Set 
Boxed set comprises of the CL1V multi bay Filter (from the skilfully designed "CL" range), with a 5000 Lph low wattage submersible Turbo Pump together with 15watt stainless steel UV Clarifier. Suitable for Koi Ponds up to 1,250 gallons (5,625 litres) or Goldfish ponds up to 2,500 gallons maximum (11,250 litres).
As can be seen in the drawing the filter comprises of 4 bays (cloverleaf in shape), with pumped water entering the first bay (vortex), and thereafter taking a series of up and down flows through the remaining bays. The function of the brushes bay is to remove major solid particles which have not dropped out of suspension whilst travelling in the vortex bay. The Japanese matting bay serves a dual purpose of trapping tiny particles, but also as a biological bed. Finally the 3 foam layers to the last bay act to filter out very tiny particles before the clear water flows down through the “Aquarock” bay which forms the main biological bed.

Key features of the “Compact Series” (suitable for pump supply only) are the small footprint when space is restricted, coupled with the innovative design concept of incorporating an integral vortex style cavity for the settlement of solids – thereby reducing maintenance.

Filtration mediums comprise of multi foam layers offering both mechanical and biological attributes, with high performance “Aquarock” forming the foundation for a biological bed for colonisation from beneficial bacteria. This range can also be used as a superb separate system for connecting to a skimmer unit. All units are supplied with a timber slatted lid, together with waste valve set.

 F20 System Filter Set 
Boxed set comprises of the popular and skilfully designed F20 De Luxe BioClear Multi Chamber Filter, with a 5000 Lph low wattage submersible Turbo Pump together with 15watt stainless steel UV Clarifier. Suitable for Koi Ponds up to 1,200 gallons (5,350 litres) or Goldfish ponds up to 2,200 gallons (9,800 litres).
As seen in the drawing of the “F20”  the spraybar from the pump discharges into Bay 1 with its mechanical nylon brushes, with the water thereafter upflowing through Bay 3 with its biological “flocore” medium – following which the water downflows into Bay 2 (the central bay) travelling through the 3 layers of foam and the high performance biological “Aquarock” medium before returning to the pond.

F4 System Filter Set

 This budget package is ideal for the small fish pond or ornamental pond. The boxed set comprises of the F4 Bio Clear Filter with built in "Smartstart" 24 watt UV Clarifier, together with a 1,100 Lph Turbo Pump. Suitable for Goldfish ponds up to 500 gallons (2250 litres).
 

Although all “Cloverleaf” multi bay filters are sturdily constructed, the superb Genesis Mk 2 range is built like a battleship, and as a consequence can be placed in locations requiring backfilling.

With the range being highly suitable for larger ponds special design large multi bay configurations are possible – subject to negotiation with the factory. It is a great rarity to find a manufacturer who will construct a "one off" filtration system in accordance with a customers specific requests, but Cloverleaf will happily do precisely that.

Genesis II - 5000 3 Bay (top right)

Genesis II - 8000 4 Bay
Illustrated here is the Genesis Mk 2 – 4 Bay system. Size 2480 x 620 x 860mm high, with each bay nominally holding 50 gallons of water.

This unit will cater for Koi ponds up to 4,000 gallons (18,000 litres).

This superb filter will also have a special appeal to those who feel constrained by the filtration mediums available in standard 4 bay units.

The Genesis range of multi bay in-line filtration systems are available in 3 sizes, and whilst generally emulating the design concept and standards of the “CL” range they are better suited to the mixed ornamental pond, or the small Koi pond where high fish loads are not present. The range offers very good value for money, and with its neat design and low height is hardly ever obtrusive in any garden setting.

The Genesis range system can be installed in tandem, or in addition can make a super secondary system when connected to a skimmer unit.

The Genesis 2500 2 Bay unit comprises of a vortex bay together with a biological/mechanical bay incorporating foam and the highly proclaimed aqua rock/alfagrog.

This unit would also be very useful if fed from a skimmer unit on a larger pond.

The Genesis 3500 3 Bay unit comprises of a first stage vortex bay, with Bay 2 being fitted with mechanical brushes, and Bay 3 serving as the main biological/mechanical stage - incorporating foam and the highly proclaimed aqua rock/alfagrog.

The Genesis 4500 4 Bay unit (shown top right) comprises of a first stage vortex bay, with Bay 2 being fitted with mechanical brushes, Bay 3 acting as a main biological bay with its “Flocore” medium (or alternative Japanese Matting at an extra cost), and Bay 4 serving as the secondary biological/mechanical stage - incorporating foam and the highly proclaimed aqua rock/alfagrog. With 4 bays offering the best of all worlds this unit is highly recommended.

Combo Deluxe Multi Bay Vegetable Filter   
 
Based upon the sound Cloverleaf principals of design, in combining mechanical and biological filtration in separate bays with up and downflows of the water path, this sturdy compact system incorporates the additional bonus of cleverly making use of a 70mm deep planted top tray – where the plant roots are encouraged to enter into the tank, and thus assist in removing nitrates from the water. Although purchasers will need to obtain their own plants, an adequate volume of special aqua-bead planting medium is supplied complete with instructions.

Vegetable filters (commonly known as veggie filters) have in their own right long been reputed to drastically reduce nitrates, which as a result reduce the nutrients which algae’s need to thrive – especially the dreaded blanket weed. Now however for the first time Cloverleaf have combined a 5 stage multi bay filter with a veggie filter, all resulting in a practical system for the small goldfish or ornamental pond (up to around 2,000 gallons for Goldfish). The end result is also visually pleasing on the eye once the plants have matured – thus blending into the garden landscape. A key feature of the Cloverleaf Combo De Luxe Vegetable Filter is its extremely low maintenance factor, which apart from occasionally flushing out the accumulated waste (via the flushing valve) only needs a major service once a year.

The nominal dimensions of this unit are 1000 x 440 x 400mm high (approx 39 x 17 x 16 inches). Bay 1 provides aeration to the water via a linear spraybar, with a settlement area for solids (including waste valve). Bay 2 is upflow through 2 rows of brushes acting as the main mechanical medium. Bay 3 is downflow through a cartridge of genuine Japanese matting, which forms a first class biological medium. Bay 4 is an upflow through a secondary settlement area, with Bay 5 being downflow through  “Flocore” forming the final biological medium. This is followed by an upflow return to the pond via a mid height outlet discharge pipe. Maximum inlet size onto the spraybar is 30mm, with a 50mm connection for the pond return pipe. Where required the filter can be partly sunk into the ground providing that access to the waste valve is retained.
